How to Make Your Own Special Tools for the Porsche IMS Bearing Project

I was able to replace the IMS bearing on my Porsche 986 without purchasing any special tools from Porsche or LN Engineering. I'll be updating this page with details on the tools I made as I have time.

  1. Hi Benjamin, Thanks for the great videos. Following them to do my ims bearing and clutch install on a 2000 Boxster. I used the same tool per your instructions but the bearing seems to be stuck so hard, it broke the ends on the puller. I had rented one from Autozone. It was by OEM tools. Was it because it was a cheap tool or is there something else I can do to remove the bearing. Its a double row bearing and seems to be in good shape. Also pulling on the bearing, I noticed the shaft itself move back and forth. Hope I havent caused any damage to the shaft by pulling on the stuck bearing. Cant believe it is jammed in there so hard. Anyway- thanks for all the hard work in creating this video set--- Arshad
